Property Carriers Beat Fraud with New Prior Loss Images in Verisk’s ISO ClaimSearch® - Yahoo Finance

Image
Jersey City, N.J., Jan. 27, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Verisk (Nasdaq:VRSK) announced that ISO ClaimSearch , the world's largest database of property and casualty insurance (P&C) claims, has enhanced its robust claim intelligence platform by adding prior loss image matching. This automates previously laborious processes and significantly bolsters fraud protection. Millions of property images have been added to the system, which contains over 1.5 billion claim records and receives ongoing contributions from more than 90% of P&C insurers. Verisk created this enhancement – available at no cost to participants -- by tapping into participant-authorized claim images from its Xactware property estimation system. How ISO ClaimSearch works: As adjusters review ISO ClaimSearch match reports, a simple on-screen camera icon easily identifies prior claims containing photos. Prior loss images may reveal pre-existing damage, or the same damage being claimed again. Image forensics e...

New Brunswick car insurance quotes can differ by more than $5,000 - CBC.ca

Image
A controversial graph, issued by former Alberta premier and current opposition leader Rachel Notley, that showed New Brunswick with some of the highest car insurance rates in Canada is proving to be mostly erroneous, but it does hint at excessive costs that lurk in waiting for New Brunswick drivers who don't look hard for deals on their premiums. In a tweet earlier this month meant to criticize car insurance prices in Alberta, Notley included a graph purporting to show the "median car insurance premiums" in each province.    In New Brunswick, the chart listed median prices to be $2,187 in 2022, 75 per cent higher than the lowest prices listed as belonging to Saskatchewan's public insurance system and worse than rates in four other provinces. "This isn't right," Notley wrote about the rates in Alberta, which topped the list with the highest prices. "Why should it cost you more here than anywhere e...

How’s the Market? Mold is serious business - Lake County Record-Bee

Image
In the past, I've addressed the risks posed by asbestos and lead. This week, I'll tackle the dangers of mold. Not all mold is created equal, but all mold in a house (unless it's on cheese by design) should be assessed so you know if it's allergenic, pathogenic or toxigenic. Allergenic mold triggers allergic reactions and asthma in people who are susceptible. Pathogenic mold can affect people whose immune systems are compromised. Toxigenic mold (often referred to as "black mold") is the most dangerous and can cause serious health issues, even in the healthiest of people. All mold grows where it's damp, so in homes you're likely to find it in basements, laundry rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and along the sill of a single-paned window. You can also find it anywhere a leaky pipe keeps things damp. Mold can grow on all sorts of surfaces from wood to tile, wallpaper, carpet, upholstery, and more. It is often found after a leak, especially in poorly ventila...
