This Morton-based restoration company has a new name, a new owner — and new services - Peoria Journal Star

Image
Steve Stein  |  Journal Star One of Morton's most well-known and longstanding businesses has a new name. Menold Construction and Restoration, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2017, was acquired this fall by BluSky Restoration Contractors and now carries that company's name.  Denver-based BluSky is one of the largest restoration companies in the U.S., with 40 offices in 18 states and about 1,000 employees. Jeff Neihouser, formerly Menold's chief operating officer and now a BluSky vice president, said the merger will provide job security for Menold's approximately 80 employees because of BluSky's national operation. "At a time when there is so much instability and uncertainty in the business world, we have stability for our Menold employees, which makes me very happy," Neihouser said. It will also mean an expansion in the kinds of work Menold employees perform. What else employees are doing now ...

Clay Pattee's passion for restoration also extends to prevention as a member of the GRFD's Residential Safety Program. Courtesy Clay Pattee Fire is central to Clay Pattee's business and personal life. Pattee is owner of John Grace Restoration and Construction, a Comstock Park-based mitigation restoration business that springs into action after fire or water has damaged a building. That's when John Grace's four-step process goes to work: inspection, emergency services, estimating and reconstruction. It's the type of business that means navigating the home insurance maze on behalf of his customers, a process Pattee said can sometimes be too "opaque." "What I see out in the world of restoration is opaque," said Pattee. "We try to make it transparent to know what they're getting paid for. It's nice to have someone who can make the process as transparent as possible. "When someone has water or fire damage, they call a random res...

T-Mobile's claims on 5G network vs Verizon should discontinue: NAD - Telecom Lead

Image
National Advertising Division (NAD) of BBB National Programs recommended that T-Mobile US should discontinue certain advertising claims for T-Mobile's 5G network. T-Mobile will appeal NAD's decision. The claims, which appeared in television, radio, and internet advertising, were challenged by Verizon Communications. NAD recommended that T-Mobile discontinue the following claims: "America's . . . most reliable network" "Verizon's latest strategy is to steal bandwidth from their 4G" The implied claims that low-band 5G employing DSS technology is inferior to low-band 5G employing standalone spectrum and that T-Mobile's low-band 5G network provides a substantively different and better experience than Verizon's low band 5G. In support of its America's most reliable network claim, T-Mobile relied on the results of an audit report conducted by umlaut. The umlaut report uses crowdsourced data (about 250 Key Pe...

The Most Dangerous Household Mold & How To Spot It, From A Remediation Expert - mindbodygreen.com

Image
Like all species of mold, Aspergillus requires some moisture, which means it thrives in any humid, wet areas inside of a home with lots of condensation potential. (Think attics, crawlspaces, windows, windowsills, and basements.) Water events like leaks and flooding can also lead to Aspergillus growth indoors. Make sure to look carefully throughout these spaces since Aspergillus is often so light in color (although, it can be brown or gray, too!). Using a flashlight is a great way to shine a light on any hard-to-see mold growth. During this mold hunt, make sure to rely on your nose as well. Mold growth often creates a musty, earthy, rotten, and damp scent.
